CHANGE has another objective, with a medium to long term impact, in the development of a software tool that can compute the most efficient wing shape of a morphing wing solely by delivering the information of the type of flight that the aircraft will fly. In this way, it's possible to know how to change the wing's shape to carry out flights with the highest performance possible. The development of the software is intended to be a stepping stone for an on- board autonomous software with control over the morphing actuators, out of the cope of CHANGE, which changes the shape of the aircraft's wing continuously in accordance to the environmental inputs and flight envelope.
The software envisioned in project CHANGE will also have the capability to be applied to any other type of wing with any size and morphing technologies without the need to modify its core modules. This feature is essential for the ability to use the software with any given morphing wing, performing any given mission with the highest performance possible.
CHANGE was led by TEKEVER with a further eight partners, including Swansea University.
